Freiburg (Germany) – 4th WG meeting (15-17 September 2014)
A visit to the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) was organised on the second day of the meeting. Since the meeting was smaller in size (approximately 50 participants), the whole group visited the spot in the field. Here participants had the opportunity to talk to several representatives of the forestry sector in the region. The plot that was visited had 100 ha size, and was mix of three ownership types: state, community and private.
In the afternoon, a stakeholder interaction workshop was organised. Three types of forest owners attended the workshop: traditional owner (forest owners and son), new owner (daughter-artist who inherited the forest), new owner (starting woodfuel business). Besides the forest owners, participants had opportunity to talk to representatives of public service extension and forest cooperative. These variety of owners brought new insights for discussion.
